Building Barton's Bridges

A poster designed for our Local History Society in Furness Vale, Derbyshire.

The two swing bridges at Barton in Greater Manchester carry the Bridgewater Canal and  a roadway across the Manchester Ship Canal.  Opened in 1894 they were considered an outstanding example of Victorian engineering and ingenuity.  The guest speaker at the History Society meeting in April will tell the story of their construction.
